Talk to the authors as they create

Your friendly neighborhood fantasy artist...

Figured I'd finally chime in here and join up.  Hi all - Steve Crompton here.

I've not been too much involved in the book until just recently.  (I was during the making of the chapbook last year) Scott asked me to do all the layout and put together the art for the final print version of the book, so I thought I join up to their network.

There's going to be a good amount of art in their novel similar to the chapbook I did for them, but all in black and white.  When i told Scott how much it would cost to print in color - I think he was going to faint.  So other than the cover - it's all going to be black and white, like almost all novels are.

I'm trying to get the art to match what they wrote as best I can.

Anyway they'll be at least 50 illos so it should be more interesting to read.

Ok that's it for me

Good luck guys!

Good to see you have joined in Steve. Sad to hear all that great colour art work you did is going to be in black and white. Hmmm... me thinks a limited signed and number hard cover colour edition should be in the works...

i agree Robert

Yes I wish it could be in color, but we are lucky that Steve was able to put together as much art as he did.  Most novels have almost no illustrations, so until we get a huge budget, we'll have to make do with the black and white.  I like your picture... Did Steve draw that one?

Yes he did... I had longer hair and a beard back when he took my picture at the San Diego Comic Con -- I believe in 1997. It was for a upcoming issue of Demi the Demoness (#5). Steve had a sign at his booth which stated something like "Be in a Demi the Demoness Comic for 25$" (not the exact words he used).  When issue 5 came out in June 2000, I became Kasse-Thoth, the Librarian of Alexandria. So I scanned one of the drawings he did of me from the comic; it's really a good likeness.

Oh hey Robert!  Yes I remember that illo I did of you  - ha ha!  Ahh those were the days..  I'll be at San Diego Comic Con again this year, so look for me there.  I'll probably be selling M.Scott's book there as well.  It's due back from the printer's very soon.  I'm sure there be announcements and e-mails once it is avaiable.  Congratz M.Scott you finally got it done!  Talk to you soon Robert! - Steve

Had our first book signing at a book store the other week and it went really well.  We sold about 30 books!  We'll post pictures soon.

Next stop ... Wondercon! April 1-3 in San Francisco!  We'll be at the Hippy Comix booth
